COMMENTARY
The first article linked below refers to a recent report in a psychiatric journal warning of the dangers of coconut oil and other supplements. It’s classic in that it epitomizes the problems inherent in today’s medical knowledge. Even doctors whose main interest is in helping people are hard pressed to do so because they receive no training in nutrition and their knowledge of drugs is supplied by manufacturers which have a
profit motive. This journal article is just one more example of the distorted or outright false information being put forth as science, when the real motive is profit. Don’t let their attempts to frighten you away from these supplements that work. It is not your physical and mental health they have at heart. Rather it is their own financial interests that are at issue here. Consumers who are foolish enough to trust the mainstream media and the Babylonian Health System will follow the advice and warnings contained within a report like this, to their own detriment. Those who are wise will look to the articles listed in this blog, and to similar sources for accurate information about the value of supplements.
Reports and articles like the one we’re discussing try to claim that there are no scientific studies to back the claims for supplements. This is inaccurate, as is their claim that antidepressants and other anti-psychotic drugs are effective and safe. In fact, thousands of studies conclusively prove exactly the opposite. Drug companies naturally shy away from natural supplements, because they cannot be patented and therefore, make far less money for those companies. They also have a vested interest in people remaining ill with chronic conditions because they can be treated for years on end.
Another claim they make is that supplements are unsafe because they aren’t subject to trials or regulation by the FDA. In fact they don’t need extensive trials because their safety has been demonstrated by generations of previous use. Neither do they need extensive regulation because they don’t have the side effects that the standard medications of the Babylonian system do. While no one is dying from coconut oil, over 100,000 people die annually from prescription drugs.
The one accurate claim is that there is not much known about their interaction with prescription medications like anti-psychotic drugs. But that is because the prescription drugs potentially are dangerous, not because the supplements are. Rather than skip the supplements, especially when it comes to mental health treatment with drugs like antidepressants, it would be better to skip the antidepressants and stick with the natural supplements. You’ll have far less problems and more chance of recovery. But because their bottom line is at issue, you’re likely to see an increasing number of similar reports being produced.
With any report on the safety and effectiveness of either drugs or supplements, the first question to ask is who’s making the report and what, if anything, do they have to gain from it. The system isn’t there for your benefit; by and large, it’s there for its own. There are trustworthy studies and reports, just as there are honest and compassionate doctors. But all are becoming increasingly rare. It’s up to you as the consumer to investigate before blindly accepting anything. It’s your health and life that’s at stake.
It is so much better to follow God’s Health System than that of the Babylonians.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

“omega-3 fatty acids, ginkgo biloba, SAMe, St John’s wort, B vitamins and vitamin D, huperzine, caprylidene, and coconut oil.” If these supplements are bringing about positive changes in the lives of elderly folks, it is not surprising that they are competing with Big Pharma drugs, which have a multitude of side effects, and little or no effect on cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s. Unfortunately, Medicare and insurance companies will cover the toxic drugs, which the medical system admits kill over 100,000 people a year (not including suicides or other secondary deaths), but they will not cover natural products that have few or no side effects, but are often far more effective.”
It might be worthwhile to use this list as a starting place for researching supplements that are effective in alleviating or preventing a number of health problems. If the psychiatric industry, in conjunction with Big Pharma finds these substances so threatening, that’s a hint of how useful they are. Considering that together those businesses constitute some of the wealthiest industries in the world, the basis for their concern becomes apparent.
Coconut Oil
Coconut Oil Touted as Alzheimer’s Remedy Coconut oil has gotten a lot of attention recently for help it gives to those with Alzheimer’s disease. It has been proved that taking coconut oil can slow the disease and maybe even prevent it. Steve Newport has had his Alzheimer’s begin to reverse in just two weeks after his wife, a Tampa physician, began to give it to him daily. He has seen both mental and physical improvement.
“”It appears to be a type of diabetes of the brain and it’s a process that starts happening at least 10 or 20 years before you start having symptoms and it’s very similar to type 1 or type 2 diabetes in that you develop a problem with insulin,” she explained.
In this case, insulin problems prevent brain cells from accepting glucose, their primary fuel. Without it, they eventually die.
But there is an alternative fuel — ketones, which cells easily accept. Ketones are metabolized in the liver after you eat medium chain triglicerides, found in coconut oil.”
The video below explains why coconut oil is so helpful for those with Alzheimer’s and other diseases. It also tells you how much to take each day. The only thing we’d disagree with is the recommendation to microwave it to get it in a liquid form – microwaving can destroy essential nutrients in foods when there’s no need to heat it at all. And though the video doesn’t mention it, you ALWAYS should make sure that the oil is unrefined virgin oil and not treated with chemicals for processing. Buy coconut oil that says, “organic” whenever possible.
Pet Health
Dog Health: The Skinny on Fish and Coconut Oil There are several choices when it comes to giving supplemental oils to your pets. Fish oil is the one most
commonly found in commercial dog food. Giving additional oil can help skin, coat and heart and a regular regime of it can cure chronic skin problems and alleviate pain from arthritis. There are two kinds, EPA and DHA. Both come from oily fish like sardines and salmon. If you purchase a liquid form, it needs to be refrigerated or it will become rancid in a couple of months. The dose for healthy dogs is 100 to 150 mg of the combined oil per 10 pounds of body weight.
“There are two kinds of coconut oil – refined and unrefined. You want to use the unrefined “virgin” coconut oil. Refined coconut oil has been treated with chemicals and has no nutritional value. Start adding the oil in very small amounts to food. Too much coconut oil can contribute to diarrhea and digestive discomfort. You can also give the oil directly to your dog or use it in baking treats/cooking food. The max dosage is around 1 teaspoon for every 10 pounds of body weight.“
Health Basics: How are vegetable oils really made? Do you have any idea how vegetable oils are made? Because they have the word, “vegetable” in the name, most people think they’re not just safe, but actually good for you. And Americans consume a great deal of oil since fried food is so popular. Despite the belief that unsaturated vegetable oil is preferable to saturated fats like butter and coconut oil, the truth is actually the opposite. Once again marketing has been so successful that it has convinced us that foods that are good for us are bad, and foods that are bad for us are good. Equally important as the way these oils are processed is the fact that many are made from genetic creations or genetically modified organisms. Vegetable oils are made by chemical processing, except for virgin oil which is cold pressed, meaning the oil is physically squeezed out of olives, for instance. Non-virgin oils, usually made from GMOs, are the original Franken-foods.
“Canola was invented in a lab by a Canadian scientist. You didn’t know? Even when labeled “organic,” canola still doesn’t come from canola seed… There was never a canola plant before 60 years ago, just rapeseed. Rapeseed cannot be consumed by humans.
Vegetable oils were practically non-existent in our food regimen as humans until the early 1900s, when new chemical processes allowed them to be extracted. Pressing and separating just wasn’t enough, and unlike with butter or coconut oil, Big Food began using chemicals to do the job, and did it ever do a “job” on our health.
Some of today’s oils are deodorized so that they don’t stink. They are processed with a petroleum solvent to extract the oil — hexane, a vapor constituent of gasoline. Their genetic makeup is altered and mixed with genes of insects, bacteria and pesticide-creating DNA. Those genes are directly transferred into the human bloodstream. Vegetable oils are manufactured in a factory, usually from genetically modified crops that have been heavily treated with pesticides and herbicides. If a vegetable oil is to be made into shortening or margarine, it undergoes an additional process called hydrogenation, which keeps it solid at warmer temperatures. Unlike saturated fats (butter, coconut oil, etc.), vegetable oils are not naturally solid at these temperatures and must be hydrogenated to accomplish this. That’s when the horrific trans-fats are made.
These “vegetable” oils are barely even food anymore, as they contain no nutrition and lots of chemicals, but they’re sold as “heart healthy” because they “come from vegetables.” …People in general underestimate the volatile health detriment and the cumulative effect which takes less than a decade to inflict chronic damage. These oils are some of the most harmful substances you can put in your body. If it’s not organic oil, be leery. You should be buying organic coconut oil and organic, raw (cold-pressed) extra-virgin olive oil.
Prescription Drugs
In our most recent post, Vitamin D3 vs Vitamin D2: Are You Getting the Right One? under the UPDATE to our earlier post that dealt with the subject of Pet Health: Contaminated Pet Food – Deadly Ingredients! where we discussed pet food that is being contaminated by Chinese ingredients, we noted that the FDA is investigating a link between pet food with Chinese ingredients and the outbreak of porcine epidemic diarrhea in the United States. (Despite that possible link between Chinese chicken and an epidemic which has wiped out 10% of our pig population and poisoned 6,000 dogs thus far, they still are approving importation of chicken from China to be sold to human consumers in our supermarkets, without a requirement that this chicken be labeled as coming from China. See these earlier posts for more information.)
One effect of this epidemic is the rising price of natural thyroid medication, which because of its similarity to human thyroid, has been safely made from pig glands for over 100 years. Anecdotal reports at a thyroid support group note that one member saw the cost of her most recent 30 day prescription rise from $8 to over $17. But that sill is less than the cost for synthetic thyroid medication.
The “Coalition for Better Thyroid Care”, a Yahoo support group, formerly known as “Save Natural Thyroid” developed as a result of the threat by the US government to restrict use of any thyroid medication but synthetic. It is a source of good information on alternatives to synthetic medication. Members post their thoughts or questions on how and where to find specific natural thyroid medications, different types of medication such as the brands listed below, licensed compounding pharmacies that will create natural thyroid to order and physicians who are familiar with thyroid problems and will prescribe natural thyroid.
Despite a century long safety record and despite the fact that most patients do better on natural thyroid because it contains all of the components of human thyroid, while synthetic thyroid preparations contain only one of the various components, most doctors still prescribe synthetic thyroid. That’s because synthetic medications are touted by the drug companies who educate doctors about their products. Synthetics are subject to patents, therefore they make more money for drug companies. And from the consumers’ viewpoint, synthetics cost more than natural thyroid medications.
Virus Epidemic Affecting U.S. Pigs, Natural Desiccated Thyroid Prices Rise
As many as 8 million pigs, 10 percent of the US pig population have been wiped out in the last year because of an outbreak of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDv).
The virus is affecting only young pigs and does not affect humans which may either consume pigs or take thyroid medications made from pigs with the virus, since it is killed by cooking. But it is dramatically affecting prices which already had risen by 13% because of drought and high prices for feed.
Natural thyroid drugs include Armour Thyroid, Nature-throid, WP Thyroid, and Erfa Thyroid, a generic natural desiccated thyroid sold in Canadian drugstores, (though it is produced in the U.S. by Acella) which has basically the same constitution and is dosed the same as the original Armour formulation. Natural thyroid has been used for over a century, while synthetic thyroid is a fairly recent product. Natural thyroid contains all of the constituents that human thyroid does, while synthetics lack one or more components, such as those that help remove symptoms like fatigue, etc.
[Natural] drugs, which provide T4, T3, T2, T1, and other thyroid hormones and nutritional elements, more closely resemble human thyroid hormone than the synthetic drugs such as levothyroxine (synthetic T4) and liothyronine (synthetic T3), and [doctors] report that their patients feel better on them.
A similar shortage in 2009 meant much of the natural thyroid drug supply became unavailable for most of the year at many drug chains, causing patients to scramble for other sources of the medication. Such a result seems likely again this year.
Digging Up the Root of Your Health Problems This video features Suzy Cohen. “America’s most trusted pharmacist,” discussing her book, “Thyroid Healthy” on The 700 Club. She provides useful information on the components of thyroid hormone and explains why each one matters for the twenty million Americans who suffer from thyroid disease. She also gives practical advice for supplements that can help to heal your thyroid.
Conclusion
Your physical health is very important, but of even greater importance is your spiritual health. Man suffers from a fatal spiritual disease called sin, which always leads to death.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
